Guest professor at the South China University of Technology

In December 2018, Prof. Stummeyer was a guest professor at the School of Economics and Commerce (经济与贸易学院) of the South China University of Technology (SCUT) in Guangzhou. SCUT had invited him as part of its “Overseas Lecturer Program”, in cooperation with the AUDI Confucius Institute Ingolstadt – the joint institute of SCUT and Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt.

In total he gave 18 hours of master’s-level lectures on “E-Commerce from a European Perspective”. His host was Prof. Heyong Wang, professor of e-commerce at SCUT.

He brought the view towards Asia back home: “When it came to new trends in e-commerce, we used to look mostly west – to the USA. Today, however, dynamic developments in China are shaping online business far more strongly, as the platforms Alibaba and WeChat currently show.” (translated from German)

It was a very exciting and varied time for me. What has stayed with me above all are the lively discussions in the lecture hall about the differences in e-commerce between Europe, the USA and Asia.
